Description
The Neel Heera Bandana carries the same natural indigo as the rest of the Neel line, but a different hand in the tying. Instead of pleats and folds, each diamond here is bound individually before the cloth goes into the vat - small, deliberate knots of thread that keep the indigo from ever touching what's underneath. When they're untied, a quiet grid of white diamonds is left sitting against a cloudy, hand-dipped blue.
The blue itself comes from a natural indigo vat, built from fermented leaf pigment and dipped by hand, the same way it's been done for generations. It only turns blue once it meets the air, deepening with each dip - which is why the background never comes out flat. You'll see soft clouding and shadow beneath the diamonds, a trace of the dye settling into the folds of the cloth. That's the process showing through, not an inconsistency to iron out.
Finished at 55cm square with a rolled edge and the Kaaro label stitched into the corner. Wear it as a headscarf, neck tie, bag charm, or pocket square - a small, everyday piece of a slower, plant-based way of making color.
