Description

The Neel Bandana is dyed the old way - by hand, in a natural indigo vat built from fermented leaf pigment, not a chemical dye drum. Before dyeing, the organic cotton is folded, pleated, and bound tight in the shibori tradition. Wherever the cloth is bound, the indigo can't reach it — so when the ties come off, what's left behind is a pattern written by resistance: crisp white bursts against deep, oxidized blue.

Indigo behaves differently from other dyes. It doesn't sit in the fiber from the start — it only turns blue once the cloth is pulled out of the vat and meets the air, deepening dip by dip. That's part of why no two Neel Bandanas are identical. The variation in tone and pattern isn't a flaw to correct, it's the proof of a hand-made process.

Finished at 55cm square with a rolled edge and the Kaaro label stitched into the corner. Wear it as a headscarf, neck tie, bag charm, or pocket square - or keep it as a small everyday piece of a slower, plant-based way of making color.
