Kaithari means handloom. Karutha means black.
Woven by hand on a manual jacquard loom in Kannur, one thread at a time. A power loom makes thousands of metres a day. Our weavers make three.
The colour is hand dyed in small batches, not machine dosed, which is why it holds true wash after wash instead of fading like mass dyed cloth.
