Description
The yellow shibori Bandana gets its color from something most kitchens throw away. We collect onion peel - skins that would otherwise go straight into compost — and simmer them down into a warm, golden-yellow dye. No synthetic pigment, no chemical vat, just a plant byproduct turned into color the way natural dyers have done for generations.
The pattern comes from the same resist logic as the rest of the Kaaro line, just tied differently. Here, the cloth is gathered at points and bound tightly in rings, so the dye can only reach the outer edge of each circle. Untied, it leaves a field of soft white suns with a burst of yellow rays at the center - where the binding thread pressed hardest into the fold.
Because the dye is plant-based and the tying is done entirely by hand, expect gentle variation in tone from circle to circle and piece to piece. That's not inconsistency - it's the fingerprint of a process that never runs through a machine.
Finished at 55cm square with a rolled edge and the Kaaro label stitched into the corner. Wear it as a headscarf, neck tie, bag charm, or pocket square - a small, everyday piece of a slower, plant-based way of making color.
